Senior National Judo Championships L Nungshithoi clinches gold as K Bishal, Deepapati settle for bronze

IMPHAL, Dec 13 : Leishangthem Nungshithoi won Manipur a gold medal as Konthoujam Bishal and Deepapati Devi had to settle for a bronze medal apiece on Day 2 of the Senior National Judo Championships 2025 being underway here at Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium.
L Nungshithoi outshone Ritu of Haryana in the women’s -52 kg category competition to open Manipur’s gold medal account at the championship. Shraddha Chopade of MHB and Tanishtha Tokas of Railways Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) finished with the bronze medal in this category.
Deepabati Devi on the other hand claimed the other bronze medal for Manipur by finishing third in the women’s -70 kg category competition. Takhellambam Inunganbi, representing Himachal Pradesh claimed the gold medal as she prevailed over Monika Hooda of ITBP in the final.
The day also saw Asmita Roy of Uttar Pradesh beat M Sanatombi of CRPF to claim the -48 kg category title, Yamini Mourya of Madhya Pradesh beat Shahin Darjada of Gujarat for the -57 kg category title, Irengbam Kalpana of All India Police Sports Control Board (AIPSCB) beat Unnati Sharma of Uttarakhand for the -63 kg category title and Reetika Dahiya of AIPSCB beat Garima Chaudhary of Haryana for the -78 kg category title.
Meanwhile, K Bishal won the bronze medal in the men’s -73 kg category competition as Arun Kumar of Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) clinched the gold beating Laishram Max of All India Police Sports Control Board (AIPSCB) in the final.
Jammu and Kashmir’s Akshay Sharma shared the bronze medal podium with Bishal.
In the -60 kg category competition, Sidhart Rawat of Uttarakhand claimed the gold by defeating Anurag Sagar of Delhi as SSCB’s Harsh Singh and Kentu Lap of Arunachal Pradesh settled for the bronze medal.
The -66 kg category gold meanwhile went to Rohit Majgul of CISF who defeated Om Rattan of Punjab in the final while Nitin Chauhan of Railways sports Promotion Board (RSPB) and Angom Wanglen of BSF picked the bronze medals.
Aditya Solanki on the other hand beat Harsh Tokas in an all Delhi final to win the -81 kg category title as Akshit Tomar of CRPF and Harshdeep Singh Brar of SSCB shared the bronze medal podium.
SSCB also won another gold medal in the men’s section as Ningthoujam Sheetal got the better of Bharam Vats of Delhi in the -90 kg category competition final. Aaradhya Chopra of Rajasthan and Karanjit Singh Maan of AIPSCB bagged the bronze medal of the competition.
