2nd DGAR Polo Championships MPSC-B, AR Polo Team-A, Thangmeiband Youth PC progress into men’s quarterfinals

IMPHAL, Dec 13 : MPSC-B, AR Polo Team-A, and Thangmeiband Youth PC have progressed into men’s quarterfinals in the ongoing 2nd DGAR Polo Championships with comprehensive pre-quarterfinal victories at Mapal Kangjeibung today.
MPSC-B, who got a first round bye, outlasted Nongpok Apunba Kangjei Lup by 9-2 goals today to seal their place in the quarterfinals.
H Abung Khuman scored four goals in MPSC-B’s big win as T Roshan and Kh Nongpoknganba added two goals apiece and Salam Viking added one. P Premjit and B Shantikumar were on target for Nongpok Apunba Kangjei Lup.
Later in the day, S Bon Bon and Kh Chandrakumar scored three goals apiece to set up AR Polo Team-A an 11-3 win over UPC-A.
M Kuber also contributed two goals for the winners as Kh Sushilo, Riyakat Ali and L Joy added a goal apiece.
For UPC-A, P Ibungochouba scored twice and M Bilam scored one.
With the win, AR Polo Team-A set up a quarterfinal date with MPSC-B.
In the third pre-quarterfinal match of the day, Thangmeiband Youth Polo Club won 10-3 against ESC-A courtesy of four goals from S Saolin, three from K Victor, two from O Paikhomba and one from Swarna.
S Dollar scored twice for the losing side as L Thomsan added one.
In the Round of 32 matches staged earlier in the day, Laaman Polo Club knocked out Universal Polo Club-B 5-2, X-Polo Club overwhelmed Ibudhou Moirang Thangjing PC 11-1 and MPSC-A crushed ESC-B 10-2 to make their places in the pre-quarterfinals.
