IMPHAL, Dec 17 : Manipur’s two game winning run in the U-19 Women’s One Day Trophy came to an end with a 7-wicket loss to Mizoram at Lady Amritbhai Daga College ground, Nagpur today.
The loss came after Manipur’s 9-wicket thrashing of Arunachal Pradesh in the opening match and 8-wicket win over Meghalaya in the second match.
Barkatun’s fighting 53 off 76 balls (7 fours) went in vain as the girls succumbed to 156 all out in 40.2 overs in the face of fierce bowling performance of Nunmawii who returned with an impressive fifer (5/32 in 6.2 overs). Mizoram then fought their way to the winning 159/3 in 44.4 overs with Karie 29 not out off 33 and Jacinta 21 not out off 21 producing an unbeaten partnership of 57-runs for the 4th wicket after Ruatpuii laid the foundation with a slow but significant 114-ball 65 studded with 8 fours and 2 sixes.
Manipur skipper N Taniya 26 off 45 (4 fours), Nonibala 19 off 22 (4 fours), and Sapam Kebriya 14 off 27 (2 fours) also managed double digit scores for Manipur who won the toss and opted to bat first.
