IMPHAL, Dec 17 : YUCC, Kwakeithel Moirangpurel Leikai overwhelmed SHADOW, Thangmeiband by 159 runs for the fourth win in 6 matches as PSC, Khuyathong prevailed against THAU, Thangmeiband by 64 runs for the fifth win in 6 matches in the ongoing 10th MNCA Plate Tournament.
In the Group A match staged at Lairenjam Public Ground, YUCC rode on Laishram Bidyashwor’s 87-ball 95 to raise a huge total of 240 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the allotted 35 overs before Laishram Somraj (4/10 in 4.3 overs) and Shougrakpam Santosh (4/31 in 7 overs) bundled out SHADOW for 81 runs within 23.3 overs.
Moirangthem Kadamjit 39 off 41, M Amitkiyon 26 off 43 and Shougrakpam Santosh 25 off 14 also made significant scores for YUCC after they won the toss and elected to bat first.
S Loyumba 2/27, Md Aziz 2/55 and A Gobind 1/49 were among the wickets for THAU before they had a forgettable chase as Y Manjeet 22 not out off 41 balls emerged the highest run getter for the team.
Moirangthem Kadamjit of YUCC also picked two scalps (2/15) to help his team seal the comfortable win.
Elsewhere at Moijing Public Ground, PSC cruised to their fifth straight Group B win after their opening game loss courtesy of half century knocks from Laimayum Prasantajit (71 off 86; 8 fours and 1 six) and Kharaijam Sagarjit (51 off 63; 6 fours) to erect a total of 205/7 in the allotted 35 overs before Okram Netrajit 4/16 in 4.2 overs and Ningombam Tony 4/24 in 6 overs set up THAU collapse at 141 within 28.2 overs.
PSC had their worst start after being asked to bat first and slumped to 1/3 with 5 deliveries as Thokchom Sushil bowled out both the openers and trapped second down batter Ningombam Tony lbw all on golden ducks.
Prasantajit however held his nerve and forged a remarkable 93-run partnership with Netrajit for the 5th wicket to take the team past the 100-run mark.
S Gautam 43 off 31 (1 fours and 2 sixes) and L Devwart 8 off 11 (1 four) were unbeaten as they closed out the innings at 205/7.
P Rohit (2/31) and Washington (1/21) were also among the wickets for THAU in the innings before they were sent packing for 141 runs in 28.2 overs despite Hanjabam Diamond’s 64-ball 65 and Khundrakpam Aden’s 54-ball 33 as Tony and Netrajit proved unplayable.
