MUTA condoles
IMPHAL, Dec 17 : The Manipur University Teachers’ Association (MUTA) has mourned the demise of Prof GP Singh, former Professor and Head of the Department of History.
Born on June 1, 1942, Prof Singh died on December 15, 2025.
His passing is a profound loss to the academic fraternity and to all those who had the privilege of associating with him as a teacher, scholar, and administrator, said MUTA in a condolence message.
Prof Singh devoted his life to the pursuit of knowledge and the advancement of historical studies. As a distinguished Professor and an able Head of the Department, he made significant contributions to teaching, research, and institutional development. His intellectual rigor, commitment to academic excellence, and leadership played an important role in strengthening the academic and research culture of the Department of History, MUTA said.
Beyond his academic and administrative achievements, Prof Singh was widely respected for his integrity, humility, and collegial spirit. He was always willing to guide students and mentor young scholars, fostering an atmosphere of mutual respect and scholarly inquiry, it said. MUTA shared the grief and pain of the bereaved family members, and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
