IMPHAL, Dec 18: The audacity of Kuki militants to  launch fierce attacks at any time and place of their choosing even after the State has been brought under the President Rule has made it clear that the protracted violent crisis is a proxy war of the Government of India.
This was alleged by CPI Manipur State Council spokesman RK Amusana during a press meet at Irabot Bhavan here today.
President’s Rule was imposed in the State on the ground that the popular Government was unable to contain violence, and protect law and order. But the PR administration has also failed to maintain law and order, he said. Following the recent attack by armed Kukis at Torbung and Phougakchao Ikhai where a large number of security forces are deployed, people have lost their faith in the PR administration.
Earlier, people were hopeful that the situation will improve with the imposition of the President’s Rule but the same hope has been belied, Amusana said.
He said that appropriate, stern action must be initiated against all those involved in the attack at Torbung and Phougakchao Ikhai on December 16, 2025.
Amusana said that the situation could have been unimaginable had there been casualties in the attack.
If the situation of May 3 returns, the PR administration must be held responsible, the CPI Manipur State Council spokesman said.
Even though both the Prime Minister and the President of India visited the State and declared that peace process has been initiated, no concrete step is visible to the public, he said.
With a large section of the State’s population still denied access to National Highways, it appears that the Government of India has been tacitly supporting the Kukis’ demand, he remarked.
Reminding the PR administration’s assurance to resettle IDPs within the current month of December, he asked the Government to inform the people about the steps taken up so far for resettlement of IDPs.
It’s time for all the MLAs, leaving aside differences of political affiliations, to take a firm stand in the interest of the people and the State, Amusana said.
He also called upon all the people to launch democratic forms of agitation against how the Government of India has been dealing with the Manipur crisis.
