IMPHAL, Dec 18 : Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Dr Mansukh Mandaviya has stated that the majority of the construction work for the National Sports University (NSU) at Koutruk in Imphal West is completed but the date for the inauguration has not yet been finalised.
He made the statement during today's Parliamentary session in response to an unstarred question raised by Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba.
The Minister stated that the physical progress of the construction of NSU currently stands at 95 per cent.
Saying that the details of various courses, admissions and activities of NSU are available in public domain and can be seen on NSU’s website, he added that funds amounting to Rs 457.96 crore have been released to NSU during the last three years. He explained that hindrances, including unrest, heavy rainfall, floods, landslides, blockades, and restrictions on National Highways, have caused delays in the delivery of essential construction materials, which in turn have affected the pace of the project.
