Manipur sign off U23 Women’s T20 Trophy with 19-run loss

IMPHAL, Dec 1 : Manipur ended their U23 Women’s T20 Trophy Plate Group campaign with a 19-run loss to Nagaland today at MBB Stadium, Agartala.
Asked to bat first, Nagaland rode on Vipeni’s unbeaten 68 off 62 balls to post a modest total of 113 runs for 4 wickets before Manipur slumped to 98 all out within 16.5 overs in response as Vipeni (3/17 in 4 overs), Imsusenia Longkumar (2/17 in 3.5 overs) and Sariba (2/18 in 4 overs) ran riot.
Iduabeule 17 not out off 9 balls and Alemienla 13 off 30 balls also managed double digit scores for Nagaland in the first innings that saw Thoudam Niruta claiming two wickets (2/16) and Th Mangalsana claiming one wicket (1/23) for Manipur.
For Manipur, L Prena top-scored on 25 off 21 balls (5 fours) followed by Barkatun 11 off 13 balls and S Kebriya 10 off 12 balls.
With their fourth win, Nagaland qualified for the final with table toppers Pondicherry who registered five of five league round wins.
Manipur, meanwhile finished fourth in the 6-team tournament with 2 wins.
