Manipur 298/9 at stumps on Day 1 as Ali Karim hits another ton

IMPHAL, Dec 1 : Manipur were 298 for 9 (in 95 overs) at stumps on Day 1 against Mizoram in the third Plate Group tie of Cooch Behar Trophy 2025-26 as Muhammad Ali Karim his second century of the U-19 Men’s First Class Tournament at Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium, Anand.
Ali Karim 154 not out off 266 (18 fours) with Rahulkumar 26 not out off 75 (4 fours) were on an unbeaten 113-run stand off 193 balls as the day was called after Thokchom Lucky 39 off 27 (6 fours) and Warokpam Max 33 off 39 (6 fours) gave Manipur, who won the toss and elected to bat first, a promising start.
Manipur however slipped to 75/3 in 12.6 overs as Lucky was bowled out by Saingurpuia before Stephen got rid of Max and Sougaijam Robinson on an 8-ball duck.
Lanchenba and Ali Karim then forged 67-runs of 197 balls for the fourth wicket before Fela removed Lanchenba on 21 off 106 and Stephen undone Kaiku on 3 to complete his haul of three wickets and reduce Manipur to 155/5 in 50.4 overs.
Fela then removed Ishorchandra on 4 for the 6th wicket in the next over.
Stephen went on to trap Danish and Reolin lbw to complete his fifer while Fela completed his three wicket haul by trapping Y Chingkhei Nganba lbw for the 8th wicket.
