3rd Premier League Themchui hits four as Sagolband United overwhelm Angtha FC 10-1; SSC edge past AMOFA 2-1

IMPHAL, Dec 1 : Sagolband United (SU) prevailed 10-1 over Angtha FC 10-1 riding on Themchui RS’s heroics as SSC, Sekta edged past AMOFA, Moirang 2-1 in today’s matches of the 3rd Premier League being underway at SSC ground, Sekta.
In the 72nd match of the tournament, Themchui RS and Laishram Binoy ran riot to devastate Angtha FC defence and contributed 6 goals to help SU score their 6th win in 10 matches.
SU went ahead within 6 minutes when Ganningam Malangmei found the opener before Ningthoujam Naresh doubled the advantage in the 16th minute.
TH D Thangabar pulled back a goal for Angtha FC in the 21st minute but SU retained the two-goal advantage on the back of a penalty converted by Mutum Arvind in the 26th minute.
The scoring spree continued with star of the day Themchui scoring two more goals in the added time of the first half (45+2’, 45+3’) to make it 5-1 at halftime in favour of SU.
Despite the huge lead, SU kept pressing for more goals after the restart and Veishalou, who came off the bench to replace Yokshim Awungshi after the restart, made it 6-1 after 52 minutes.
Laishram Binoy, who subbed in for Ningthoujam Naresh at the restart, also scored at the stroke of the hour-mark to extend the lead to 7-1 before Themchui completed his hattrick two minutes later before Binoy had his second in the 69th minute to make it 9-1.
Themchui rose again to score his fourth goal in the 74th minute and sealed the comprehensive 10-1 win.
Later in the day, SSC rode on goals from Yumnam Bikeshor (25’) and Sapam Somendro (52’) to earn the 2-1 win over AMOFA whose Samjetsabam Boboy found the lone goal in the 27th minute.
