Soft Machine : The Return Manipur story to be told on stage at Berlin

IMPHAL, Dec 2 : The violence, unrest and the suffering of the people of Manipur will be retold on stage through dance and music at Humboldt Forum, Berlin.
A documentary project of 10 years– Soft Machine: The Return, will be performed at Humboldt Forum, Berlin and it will tell the story of the suffering of Manipuri people.
The dance composition directed, conceptualised and designed (visual) by Berlin-based Singaporean Choy Ka Fai will be performed by choreographer and dancer Surjit Nongmeikapam along with Indonesian choreographer Rianto on December 4 and 5 at the Humboldt Forum.
Soft Machine was first presented at the Dans Festival held at The Esplanade: Theatre on the Bay, Singapore in 2015.
Since then, the project has been shown 60 times across different countries of the world.
Soft Machine: The Return premiered in Singapore in September this year and the European premiere will be held on December 4.
Nachom Arts Foundation, Imphal founder and artistic director Surjit Nongmeikapam will tell the story of unrest and the people’s extreme suffering in Manipur through Soft Machine: The Return.
Rianto who specializes in Lengger Lanang (Javanese folk dance) will perform together with Surjit Nongmeikapam.
Chaoba Thiyam from Manipur will play music and contribute to the sound design for Soft Machine: The Return at the Humboldt Forum.
