Vijay Merchant Trophy : Manipur suffer an innings and 296 run loss to Mumbai

IMPHAL, Dec 19 : Manipur slumped to an innings and 296 run loss to Mumbai in their second outing of the ongoing Vijay Merchant Elite Group C at KIIT Cricket Stadium, Bhubaneswar.
The State lads faltered not only once but twice after letting Maharashtra bat first and saw them declared at 417/6 in 95.4 overs to suffer the huge loss within two days.
In response to the commanding total of Mumbai raised by centurions S Rishabh (100 off 140; 16 fours and 1 six) and Karthik Kumar (102 not out off 140; 8 fours and 2 sixes) and half centurion Arjun Gadoya (97 off 142; 10 fours), Manipur were dismissed for 48 runs within 29.2 overs as Romesh 10 and Sayonba 14 emerged the only double digit run getters while three batters departed on ducks.
Shane Raza (5/21 in 8 overs) and Nikhil Verma (4/6 in 8.2 overs) led the Mumbai bowling attack in this innings and shared 9 wickets between them while Karthik Kumar returned with one wicket (1/10 in 6 overs).
Asked to follow on, Manipur were bundled out for 73 in 24.4 overs with Vedant Gore (4/19 in 5.4 overs), Nikhil Verma (3/19 in 7 overs), and Karthik Kumar (2/14 in 5 overs) set up the collapse by sharing 9 wickets.
Yohenba 11 off 8, Swabhiman 11off 27, Md Zuned 15 off 28, and Distaraj 10 off 6 were the double digit scorers in the second innings.
Bush 2/55, Swabhiman 2/73, and Chingamba 2/93 were among the wickets for Manipur in the first innings for Mumbai.
