Maisnam Meiraba secures 10th international championship title

IMPHAL, Dec 20 : Manipur’s Maisnam Meiraba Luwang added another feather in his cap as he secured his 10th international championship titles across both junior and senior levels by topping the YONEX SUNRISE Bangladesh International Challenge 2025 that concluded today at Sahid Tajuddin Ahmed Indoor Stadium.
Meiraba, who was seeded third, eased past ninth seed Numair Shaik 21-7, 21-12 in an all-India final today in just 30 minutes to clinch his 6th international singles title.
Meiraba, who earned his fifth international title last year at Nepal International, made good start to the tournament by defeating Malaysia’s Ayu Fu Sheng 21-19, 21-11 in the Round of 64 before outlasting Tay Ron Hsien Justin 21-10, 21-6 of Singapore in the next round.
In the Round of 16, Meiraba eased to a 21-12, 21-7 win over 15th seed Hek Fung Branson Hee of Malaysia and secured a 21-15, 21-19 win over compatriot Harshee Dani in the last-8 round to book his semi-final ticket.
In the semi-final, Meiraba conceded the first set to Singapore’s Lau Jun Hui Marcus but bounced back in the following sets to come out 14-21, 21-11, 21-16 winner and set up the final date with Numair Shaik.
Numair Shaik had reached the final with a 21-15, 21-6 win over Vietnam’s Nguyen Tien Minh in the semi-final.
