22nd Manipur Veteran Cricket YPHU-W close in on quarterfinals with 7-wicket win over TCMDC

IMPHAL, Dec 20 : YPHU-Warior (W), Lalambung thrashed TCMDC, Thongju by 7 wickets for the third straight Group B win in the ongoing 22nd Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament at Langthabal Public Ground.
Heromen shone with a fifer (5/21 in 6 overs) as YPHU-W closed in on the quarterfinals on the back of the three back to back wins in the five-team Group B league competition.
YPHU-W bundled out toss winners TCMDC for 119 runs in 27.2 overs as Heromen was unstoppable with the ball before Hemanta 46 off 41, Kumarkanta 27 off 42 provided the team a steady start in the chase and Bikram 17 not out off 20 and Romen 23 not out off 15 took the team to the winning 122 in 19.3 overs with 7 wickets left to spare.
Bijesh 23 off 59, Th Tarun 20 off 25, Jiten 16 off 16 and Premjit 13 off 13 were the only double digit run getters for TCMDC today in the first innings that also saw Dularva (2/16) and Kumarkanta (1/15) of YPHU-W sharing three wickets.
For TCMDC, Jiten (3/30) picked all three scalps in the second innings. YPHU-W will play CYCLONE, Thangmeiband in their final league round match.
