Abducted, freed

IMPHAL, Dec 21: A 36-year-old man was allegedly abducted by well armed unidentified men last night and released early this morning.
The alleged abduction took place at around 9.30 pm at Langdum Lamkhai.
The man, identified as Khoirom Kenedi (36) of Yairipok Top Chingtha, was with his wife, their 4-year-old daughter and some students when the armed men allegedly abducted him. They were returning home from Langol.
At Langdum Lamkhai area, the armed men in civilian vehicles blocked their vehicle and allegedly abducted Kenedi at gunpoint. The wife and children were then escorted and abandoned at Thambalnu market.
The family then filed a report at Andro police station and later at Irilbung police station.
This morning, Kenedi was found abandoned on the bank of a canal at Wangbal with his hands, feet and eyes tied.
Locals staged a sit-in protest against the incident today, and appealed to all groups concerned to refrain from such actions in the future.
