1200 cases of IMFL seized

IMPHAL, Dec 23: A huge quantity of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) was seized from a truck at New Keithelmanbi, Imphal West under Patsoi police station along Imphal-Jiribam highway last night.      
Acting on specific information about the illegal transportation of IMFL along Imphal-Jiribam highway, a team of Patsoi police station led by the Officer-in-Charge rushed to New Keithelmanbi area and detained a truck with Manipur registration number for checking.
On spot verification, the driver of the truck was identified as Ahongshangbam Thenden (55) s/o (L) Ningthou of Khaidem Awang Leikai and on checking the truck, a huge quantity of IMFL was found, sources said.
The police team found 328 cases of rum (Old Monk quarter bottle), 642 cases of KD-90 rum (full) and 230 cases of beer (Kingfisher).
Altogether 1200 cases of IMFL brought from Silchar were seized from the truck.
The seized items were later handed over to the Excise office, Keithelmanbi for further necessary actions, said the sources.
