AR conducts Inter-Village Football Tournament in Chandel

IMPHAL, Dec 23
Assam Rifles today organised an Inter-Village Football Tournament at Sehlon village in Chandel district as a part of their civic outreach and youth engagement programmes aimed at nurturing sportsmanship and healthy competition among the local population.
As many as 5 teams, three from Sehlon village and one each from Phailengkot and Old Samtal participated in the tournament, said PRO IGAR (S) in a press release.
Following a series of closely contested games, the Sehlon village team emerged victorious, showcasing exceptional teamwork and athletic prowess, it said.
They were also felicitated by a contingent of 15 Assam Rifles officials and troops during a formal closing ceremony, it said.
The event witnessed a massive turnout of approximately 275 villagers from across the Area of Responsibility, reflecting the deep-rooted community support for such initiatives, it said.
By bringing together neighbouring villages, the tournament served as an effective platform to foster unity and reinforce the spirit of goodwill between the security forces and the populace, it added.
