IMPHAL, Dec 26 : Heirok Assembly Constituency MLA Dr Thokchom Radheshyam on Thursday appealed for Manipur to be filled with love and peace. He was speaking at the inaugural function of the 3rd Vashen League, organised in connection with Christmas celebrations at Khathing Memorial Ground, Tashar Village.
In his address, Dr Radheshyam said Christmas is a festival that spreads the universal message of love and peace, adding that love is not a small or fragile thing but something vast and strong. Expressing happiness at the warm reception he received in Tashar Village, he said the affection and unity shown by the people should mark the end of all woes and miseries faced by the village.
Highlighting the importance of a balanced life, the MLA said that three elements—body, mind and soul—are essential for human well-being. He stressed that maintaining a healthy body requires regular sports and physical activities, a healthy mind depends on proper education, and a healthy soul is nurtured through regular church attendance.
Dr Radheshyam further underlined the role of sports in promoting good health, harmony and peace, stating that sporting activities help bring people together and spread messages of unity and understanding. He expressed hope that the sports meet in Tashar Village would convey a message of love and peace not only within Manipur but to the wider world.
The 3rd Vashen League was formally inaugurated by Dr Radheshyam by hoisting the village flag. The programme was attended by Tashar Village Chief SP Kahangshai Awungsi as functional president, while Manipur Mail Executive Editor Ninthoukhongjam Ibungochoubi attended as the guest of honour.
