Young woman found dead

IMPHAL, Dec 27: A 27-year-old married woman, who reportedly went missing yesterday, was found dead at Wangoi this morning.
The woman, identified as Khaidem Chaoba Devi, was the wife of Nareshwor of Wangoi Mamang Khaidem.
Raising suspicion, angry family members of the deceased and locals partly damaged the house and properties of the husband.
Police resorted to firing tear gas shells and mock bombs to control a mob that tried to forcefully enter the site where the woman was found dead.
The husband, Nareshwor, and the mother-in-law of the woman have been pulled up by the police.
The lifeless body of the woman was found under mysterious circumstances this morning inside the Ibudhou Pakhangba compound  at Thiyam Leishang- khong, under Wangoi police station, Imphal West district.
The woman reportedly went missing yesterday after she allegedly went out of her residence in the evening.
The husband filed a missing complaint with the Wangoi police station this morning, some hours before her lifeless body was found.
Locals found the body of the woman lying in an open area near a tree inside the Ibudhou Pakhangba compound, and informed the police.
Wangoi police rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area for forensic experts to carry out an inquest of the body.
As the news of the woman being found dead spread, her family members and locals gathered near the compound where the body was found.
A heated argument broke out between security personnel and angry locals after the latter tried to forcefully enter the site where the body was found.
Police fired some rounds of tear gas shells and mock bombs to control the growing mob.
Even as the confrontation with the police continued, a part of the mob went to the residence of the husband and partly destroyed the house and other household properties alleging the family members' involvement in the incident.
Additional security personnel rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control.
Due to the tense situation, the body could not be taken to RIMS mortuary for postmortem till late in the evening.
Wangoi police have registered a case for investigation.
