IMPHAL, Dec 27: Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, ABVP Manipur's 11th State Conference kicked off at IIIT Campus, Mantripukhri this evening.
An exhibition programme held in the morning before the formal launch of the conference was attended by Assam Kshetra Karyavah RSS Kh Rajen Sing, Dhanamanjuri University Vice Chancellor Prof W Chandbabu and ABVP Manipur vice president Asem Vellorpati.
The exhibition showcased crafts made by students.
The launch event in the evening was attended by Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Th Satyabrata Singh, RIMS Director Professor G Sunil Kumar, ABVP National Joint Organizing Secretary Govinda Nayak, ABVP State president Professor Premlata Maisnam and ABVP State secretary Goutam Philem, among others.
Speaking at the event, Speaker Th Satyabrata said the ABVP is one of the largest student organisations in the world, and it has been actively taking part in the Nation building process.
Stating that the organisation believes in instilling patriotism among students, Satyabrata expressed that the conference will have positive impacts on the society.
He wished for the ABVP conference to discuss issues facing the society and convert its resolutions into action.
ABVP Manipur State secretary Goutam Philem said the conference will highlight what the organisation has done in the past year and discuss them.
Karyakartas from all district units will take part in the conference, he added.
On the second day of the conference, karyakartas and students will take out a "peace and cultural rally" and hold open discussions on a range of issues, he added.
The State conference will go on for three days.
