Overpowered, held

IMPHAL, Dec 26 : In a twist of fate, two assailants who fired at a person at Takhel Yongdon under Lamlai police station missed their target and ended up in police custody after being overpowered by locals.
According to reports received from police, the assailants who identified themselves as cadres of the KCP-MC (Progressive), admitted that they attempted to shoot one Saikhom Khogen, a local resident, on orders from their party leader, but the bullet missed.
The police further revealed that Khogen is a surrendered militant, having once been a member of an underground outfit himself.
Hearing the gunshot, locals rushed to the area, captured the two militants and handed them over to the Imphal East commandos.
A pistol was recovered from their possession.
