87th Senior National Badminton C’ships K Priya-Shruti Mishra finish runners up

IMPHAL, Dec 28 : The Manipur-Uttar Pradesh pair of Konjengbam Priya and Shruti Mishra settled for the runners up title at the Yonex Sunrise 87th Senior National Badminton Championships hosted by Andhra Pradesh at Vijayawada.
Priya and Shruti fell 14-21, 18-21 in the final to Shikha Gautam and Ashwini Bhat today to end their campaign with the silver medal.
They reached the final yesterday by defeating Aparna Balan and Simran Singh 21-19, 21-14 in a semi-final clash after securing a 21-14, 21-9 win over Arath Sara Sunil and Varshini VS.
They had earlier received a bye in the first round before defeating Arunbala R and Nila V 21-13, 21-10 in the second round and outlasted Zenith Abigail and Likhita Srivastava 21-16, 21-14 in the third round to seal their quarterfinal ticket.
Meanwhile, Shikha Gautam and Aswini Bhat had earlier got the better of Vennala K and Reshika  21-11, 21-15 in a semi-final clash to complete their final line up.
The State pair of Khwairakpam Manjit and Konthoujam Dingku had on Friday bowed out in the quarterfinals following  a 21-18, 21-23, 17-21 loss to Mithilesh P Krishnan  and Prejan.
