Cooch Behar Trophy Chingkhei Nganba enjoys fifer after Ali Karim’s unbeaten 180 guide Manipur to 330 in first innings

IMPHAL, Dec 2 : Ali Karim scored an unbeaten 180 off 311 balls as Manipur posted a first innings total of 330 runs for in 109 overs before Yumnam Chingkhei Nganba led in dismantling Mizoram for 121 runs to earn a 218-run lead on Day 2 in the third tie of Cooch Behar Trophy.
Resuming the innings at 298/9 (in 95 overs) this morning with Ali Karim 154 and Rahulkumar 26 batting for the 10th wicket stand, Manipur added 41 more runs to close out the first innings at 339.
Ali Karim remained unbeaten on 180 as Rahul Kumar was undone on 36 by Saingurpuia to break the partnership of 154 runs.
Stephen of Mizoram returned with the best bowling figures of 5/99 in 36 overs as Fela returned with 3/48 in 25 overs and Saingurpuia finished with 2/63 in 19 overs.
Mizoram however faltered badly in their first innings and were bowled out for 121 runs within 21.5 overs  as Yumnam Chingkhei Nganba who enjoyed a match haul of 11 wickets  (6+5) in the previous match against Meghalaya ran through their line up and enjoyed a 5-wicket haul including the wicket of Mapuia who topscored for the team by scoring 62 off 155 balls.
Valpuia 17, Peka 11 and Hlimpuia 10 also managed double digit scores for Mizoram in their first innings that also saw Lanchenba claiming three wickets (3/20).
O Reolin (1/11) and S Kaiku (1/14) were also among the wickets for Manipur.
Further continuing the day, Manipur were 52/3 (21.4 overs) at stumps to take a 270-run lead.
