SMAT : Manipur suffer 8-wicket loss to Sikkim

IMPHAL, Dec 2 : Manipur suffered an 8-wicket loss to Sikkim in their fourth Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025-26 Plate Group tie at MCA Cricket Stadium, Gahunje, Pune this evening.
Manipur raised a modest total of 134 runs after electing to bat first and Sikkim eased to the winning 138 within 15.2 overs with 8 wickets left to spare. Johnson 39 off 37; Andyroshan 22 off 17 and Kishan Singha 14 not out off 6 were the leading run getters for Manipur in the first innings that saw Ankur (3/18) and Kranthi Kumar (2/19) sharing 5 crucial wickets for Sikkim.
In reply, Kranthi Kumar scored an unbeaten 79 off 45 balls (8 fours and 2 sixes)  to guide Sikkim past Manipur’s total along with Ashish Thapa 32 not out off 24 balls.
Ph Jotin and K Bishworjit picked a wicket apiece for Manipur in a lost cause.
It was the second loss in four matches and with the result Manipur slipped to fourth place in the 6-team league table behind Sikkim, Mizoram, and Nagaland.
Manipur will play Nagaland in the final league match on December 4.
