Relay sit in protest continues

IMPHAL, Dec 3 : Urging the Government to meet the December deadline for resettlement of IDPs, displaced folks staged a demonstration at Lamboi Khongnangkhong on the third day of their month-long relay sit-in protest today.
Locals from the area also joined the protest in a show of solidarity.
The relay protest, conducted under the aegis of the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI), began on December 1.
Speaking by the sideline of the protest, Mayanglambam ongbi Binodini from Lamboi Khongnangkhong Relief Camp expressed grief over the Government's treatment of IDPs.
Saying that displaced folks have lost their homes and properties, she questioned how much longer the authorities plan to keep them in relief camps. She called upon the Government to fulfil the December deadline for resettlement of IDPs and help them live normal lives once again with State forces safeguarding them.
