Indian Army XI, YCCIC emerge men and women’s champions in 2nd DGAR Hockey Tournament

The Second DGAR Hockey Tournament, organised by Assam Rifles, concluded today with a vibrant closing ceremony at the Khuman Lampak Astro Turf Stadium, Imphal.
The championship, conducted under the Assam Rifles Civic Action Programme (AR CAP), brought eight days of competitive and spirited hockey to a memorable end.
As YCCIC were crowned women’s champions following a 3-2 final win against IDEAL, Indian Army XI emerged men’s champions as they beat SEYO 1-0 in the final today.
The enthusiastic crowd witnessed a display befitting a tournament finale, reflecting the rising standards of hockey across the region, sai PRO IGAR (S) in a press release.
The day was graced by Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, DG Assam Rifles along with senior officials from Assam Rifles, Manipur Police, civil dignitaries, it said.
A cultural programme celebrating the artistic and traditional heritage of Manipur was presented during the ceremony.
Trophies and cash awards were presented to the winning and runner up teams in both men’s and women’s categories. Special honours for Best Goalkeeper and Player of the Tournament were awarded for outstanding individual performance. Certificates of participation were distributed to all players, recognising their dedication and contribution to the championship, it said.
