Khwairamband committee intervenes

IMPHAL, Dec 29: The Khwairamband Ima Keithel Joint Coordinating Committee for Peace (KIKJCCP) has reacted to the row between fish vendors and fish farmers concerning the Emoinu Fish Festival, calling the whole debacle unfortunate.
During a press briefing held at Khwairamband Keithel No 2 (Emoinu Keithel) today, Huirem Binodini, president, Emoinu Keithel and co-convenor of KIKJCCP, said that the Fisheries Department is gearing up for the fish festival slated for December 31. Meanwhile, the fish vendors of Khwairamband Keithel are staunchly against the conduct of the fish festival even as the fish farmers are against the vendors' stance.
In this connection, she pointed out that there will be no reason for any dispute if fish locally produced by fish farmers are made available for everyone to sell harmoniously instead of resorting to selling imported "ice fish" resulting in outflow of money to other states. "All things considered, fish vendors of Khwairamband Keithel and fish farmers are like mother and sons. Instead of engaging in such heated back  and forth, let us try to work towards common progress and prosperity", said Huirem Binodini.
