IMPHAL, Dec 3 : Yumnam Chingkhei Nganba produced yet another sublime bowling performance to help Manipur crush Mizoram by 264 runs for the third straight victory in the Plate Group league competition of the ongoing Cooch Behar Trophy 2025-26 at Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium in Anand, Gujarat.
Chingkhei Nganba, who enjoyed a fifer (5/22 in 13.5 overs) in the first innings to dismantle Mizoram for 121 runs and earn Manipur a 218 run first innings lead, improved his performance in the second innings to return with a haul of 6 wickets (6/14 in 8.2 overs) to lead in bundling out Mizoram for the second innings total of 89 runs within 32.2 overs.
Sagatpam Lanchenba also shone with the ball for Manipur as he finished with a match haul of 6 wickets (3/20 in 8 overs in Mizoram’s first innings and 3/13 in 7 overs in the second innings).
Resuming their second innings at 52/3 (21.4 overs), the State lads were dismissed for 135 runs within 54 overs as Saingurpuia (5/42 in 18 overs) and Stephen (2/31 in 15.2 overs) led the Mizoram bowling attack.
Md Danish Khan was unbeaten on 47 off 87 balls in the innings that also saw Th Lucky 22, Sougaijam Robinson 25, Lanchenba 10 and Reolin 10 register double digit figures. Chasing the target of 354, Mizoram batters faltered yet again as Chingkhei Nganba and Lanchenba shared a bulk of 9 wickets to set up their collapse at 89 within 32.2 overs.
Only Mapuia 28 of 58, Valpuia 19 of 23, Hlimpuia 16 off 17, and Mal Sawm Muan Zela 13 off 15 were able to register double digit figures for Mizoram in the second innings as four batters were dismissed for ducks.
Manipur had earlier in the first innings raised a commanding total of 339 runs after electing to bat first thanks to an unbeaten 180 (off 311 balls; 21 fours) by Md Ali Karim and notable contributions from Th Lucky 39 off 27 (6 fours), W Max 33 off 39 (6 fours), Rahulkumar 36 off 114 (5 fours), and Lanchenba 21 off 106.
Manipur will visit Sikkim in the next match from November 8 at SICA ground, Rangpo.
