NET here with specialised treatment for stroke

IMPHAL, Dec 4 : Offering specialized treatment for BP stroke, road traffic accident, brain tumour, disc prolapse, spinal cord tumour, migraine etc to the people, Neuro Emergency Trauma (NET) Multi Speciality Hospital was inaugurated today at Singjamei Mathak Chingtham Leikai, Imphal West.
As Managing Director, Dr Soubam Parkinson, MS, MCh, Neuro Surgery, AIIMS New Delhi will be available throughout the day at the multi speciality hospital which also offers additional services such as general surgery, orthopedics, medicine, neuro medicine, dentistry, CT scan, ultrasound and lab tests.
Speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function, Yumnam Khemchand Singh, MLA, Singjamei AC called it fortunate that a hospital specializing in neurological emergencies and run by a dedicated, qualified and well-known neuro surgeon has been set up in the State.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Soubam Parkinson commented on the lack of neurosurgeons in Manipur and the need for updated equipment and technology in the treatment of neurological conditions.
He added that treatment for neuro emergencies and other related conditions will be available at NET Hospital.
In case of a road accident survivor who has suffered not only damage to the brain, but fractures and injuries on the face/cheek and broken ribs, can get all necessary treatment aside from neuro surgery at NET Multi Speciality Hospital. Doctors specializing in orthopedics, general surgery, medicine, neuro medicine and dentistry are available here. These medical experts will consult one another and offer the best treatment to the patient, said Dr Soubam Parkinson.

Speaking on the high cost of treating neurological conditions, he maintained that an accident or BP stroke patient cannot be sent home immediately after receiving urgent care. On their road to recovery, they may need to stay in the hospital ward/ICU for a long period, which puts a huge financial strain on the patient's family.
