Education sensibly enhances the quality of life and higher edu- cation primarily caters to young adults after schoo-ling, encouraging technical skills, fostering a sense of responsibility, and nurturing prosperity. Equally important is its role in developing moral character and intellectual strength, crucial for building a resilient national character through educated youth.
Home Science stands as an applied and integrated discipline aimed at enhancing the quality of life for individuals, families, and communities. It can be interpreted as systematic education for organized home living, adapting to technological advancements and the evolving behaviours of community members. Home Science equips individuals with knowledge to meet new challenges posed by technological progress and the growing need for sustainable living. This program is chiefly practical- oriented, fostering skill development and refinement.
Home Science education is available at multiple levels—from certificates and diplomas to bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees. Courses begin at the high school level and extend to professional degrees post-10+2. Key disciplines include Food Science and Nutrition, Food Service Management and Dietetics, Family Resource Management and Consumer Stu- dies, Human Development and Family Studies, Textile and Apparel Designing, and Extension and Communication Management.
