Women bodies to commemorate Nupi Lan

IMPHAL, Dec 6 : To commemorate the two historic movements waged by women of Manipur against mass exploitation and artificial famine triggered by the British, the Universal Mother’s Organisation (UMO), Manipur Women’s Federation (MWF) and Manipur Keithel Nupi Marup (MKNM) will jointly observed this year’s Nupi Lan on December 12 at N Tomchou Higher Secondary School, Mayang Imphal.
Speaking to the media, UMO president Moirangthem Sorojini Leima said that the memorial event is being organised under the aegis of the Federation of Civil Society Organisation (FOCS).
“Nupi Lan memorial observation is an attempt to recollect and honour the strength and courage of these women activists who had relentlessly fought for the freedom of Manipur”, said Sorojini while seeking public support for the successful conduct of the event.
