Orgs submit representation to Governor
IMPHAL, Dec 8: The All Jiribam United Clubs Association (AJUCA) and Jiri Development Organization (JDO) have submitted a representation to Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, urging him to intervene and expedite the PMGSY-III projects in Jiribam district. The Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) is a flagship programme of the Government of India launched to improve rural road connectivity.
While the work under the PMGSY-III in Jiribam was sanctioned in March 2024, no significant progress has been made so far, the organisations said in the memorandum, adding this reflects poorly on the PR Government's commitment to development in the district.
The organisations said the Rural Engineering Department (AED), Manipur was entrusted with the work.
The organisations informed the Governor that the tender for one of the work packages worth Rs 22.70 crore was held again in September 2025 after it was cancelled the first time. However, the work for this project has not been initiated yet.
As the sanctioned project has not been implemented and completed in time, there is a high risk of it being terminated, the organisations added.
Meanwhile, it is unfortunate that there is conflict of interest with the local contractors following the tender process of the PMGSY III project. This issue has escalated to the point that it has been taken to Court.
Demanding transparency and adherence to relevant guidelines in all processes including the floating of the tender, the organisations urged the Governor to intervene and expedite the PMGSY-III project in the current working season.
