Ukhrul MLA writes to Governor

IMPHAL, Dec 8: Ukhrul MLA Ram Muivah has flagged "significant delays that have plagued PMGSY project" in Manipur in a letter to Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla today.
Significant delays have plagued the PMGSY project in Manipur, with no new projects since March 2022. Manipur's exclusion from annual PMGSY allocations has been attributed to non-submission of UCs (Utilisation Certificates), although sanctions depend on meeting project criteria rather than UCs, said the MLA in the letter to the Governor.
The MLA pointed out that on March 7, 2024, 56 works were sanctioned under PMGSY-III, followed by 41 works on March 29, 2025.
However, tenders for these works have faced cancellations due to contractor demands and lack of responses. The MoRD's directive on September 19, 2025, to withdraw un-tendered works has further stalled progress, leaving a tender floated on August 29, 2025, unopened due to unfounded contractor complaints, said the MLA.
He urged the Governor for his personal intervention to expedite the PMGSY tender process in the larger interest of public service.
