Ukhrul CSOs seal DC, SDO office

Ukhrul, Feb 10 : Different Tangkhul civil society organisations have sealed the Ukhrul DC's office at Hamleikhong, Ukhrul in protest against the Government failure to reinstate Deputy Commissioner Kengoo Zuringla in the district.
The volunteers locked the entrance gate of the DC's office at around 10.30 am.
TSL president Thingreiphy Lungharwo has expressed dissatisfaction with the newly posted DC.
The protest will go on indefinitely, he said.
The protestors held placards with inscriptions "Justice for Ukhrul", "Revoke the DC transfer order," and "No new DC in Ukhrul, listen the people's voice" among others.
In a separate incident, the All Hunphun Tang Association (AHTA), Ukhrul locked the Ukhrul SDO office at Hamleikhong today.
According to Alungpam Ruivah, convener of AHTA action committee, the Ukhrul SDO office will remain locked until the pending MGNREGA material components fund is released.
AHTA has been urging the SDO to release the MGNREGA material component bills.
