
IMPHAL, Feb 19 : Major Langam Ranjana Devi, Administrative Officer was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, becoming the first lady officer of the North East to be elevated to the prestigious rank.
The pipping ceremony was performed by Brigadier Vikrant Kulkarni, Group Commander, NCC Imphal and Col Padmakumar, CO 65 Manipur Girls BN, NCC Imphal.
Fourteen lady officers were promoted to the rank of Lt Col with Major Langam Ranjana being one of them.
She was commissioned in June 2002 through the UPSC. She is also a recipient of the Defence Minister Commendation Card and DG NCC Commendation Card (twice) for her excellent and tireless service and contribution to the NCC, especially in the Manipur Cadet.
Langam Ranjana also attended the Youth Exchange Programme in Nepal as part of the Indian delegation from the Ministry of Defence.
