IMPHAL, Feb 2 : Keirao AC MLA L Rameshwor Meetei has said that people of his Constituency will continue to promote Leishang Hiden which is closely associated with Manipur history.
He made the statement at the opening ceremony of Khagemba Football Trophy 2025 at Kyamgei Heibong Makhong today.
Speaking as the chief guest, Rameshwor who is also the Chairman of Planning and Development Authority (PDA) continued that Leishang Hiden which is situated under Kyamgei Village  no 68 is important for their historical and religious significance.
Leishang Hiden is more than just a water body-it's a sacred site, he said.
Saying that Meetei people hold religious programmes at Leishang Hiden every year in the Meetei calendar month of Inga, the MLA added that people of Kyamgei have been safeguarding Leishang Hiden given its religious and cultural significance.
He continued that a particular MLA making a wrongful statement about Leishang Hiden during a World Wetlands Day today is unacceptable to the people of Kyamgei.
Suggesting recognition of Leishang Hiden as a State land is immature, Rame-shwor said. People of Kyamgei won't oppose development of Leishang Hiden by the Govt but making an irrational statement about the sacred site is unacceptable, he added.
