Manipur emerge overall team champions in 28th Jr Sepaktakraw Nationals

IMPHAL, Feb 2 : Manipur were crowned overall team champions of the 28th Junior National Sepaktakraw Championship hosted by Andra Pradesh at Nandyal with as many as 5 gold and 1 silver medals.
Having sealed both the regu and event team titles, the State girls and boys produced remarkable performances to notch up a gold and a silver in the quad events.
Girls team won the quad event gold medal by defeating Haryana 15-9, 17-15 in the final on January 31.
Manipur girls had earlier swept the league stage matches against Assam, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh but go down to Haryana. Despite the loss, they qualified for the quarterfinals and beat Andhra Pradesh 15-2, 17-15 in the quarterfinals before beating Odisha 15-4, 15-8 in the semi-final to book the final ticket.
The boys however settled for the silver medal in the quad event as they lost 12-15, 13-15 to Bihar in the final.
Earlier in the league round, Manipur defeated Pondi-cherry, Telangana, Bihar and Punjab. In the quarterfinals, Manipur beat Nagaland 17-15, 10-15, 15-13 before beating Kerala 15-9, 15-3 in the semi-final and set up the title clash with Bihar.
