Manipur Police promote 4th Master Boys and Girls Boxing Championship & 1st State Level Blue Cubs Baby League

IMPHAL, Feb 20: Director General of Police, Rajiv Singh inaugurated the 4th Master Boys and Girls Boxing Championship & 1st State Level Blue Cubs Baby League (6-12 years) at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex.
Addressing dignitaries, officials, coaches, parents, and young participants, the DGP highlighted Manipur’s rich sporting heritage, and said the State has produced world-class athletes, including Olympic medallists and international champions.
He emphasised that grassroots sports development is essential to sustaining this legacy and shaping disciplined, determined individuals.
Rajiv Singh highlighted the present context of Manipur which has been plagued by violence for almost 2  years, and said the most affected section of the society has been the youth and the young  generation.
Recognizing sports as a unifying force that fosters discipline, health, and resilience, the DGP  announced that the Manipur Police is taking a proactive role in promoting sports under the "Catch  Them Young" initiative.
He expressed confidence that the newly introduced Baby League will not only groom future champions but also offer a joyful and enriching experience for children as young as six.
The DGP stressed that Manipur Police has always been keen in promoting sports with over 400 sports personalities serving in the Department.
Players of global status such as Mary Kom, Sarita Laishram, Mirabai Chanu, Bala Devi, Sarjubala Devi and many others have been a proud part of the Manipur Police, he said.
In a strong appeal to misguided youths who have become anti-social, the DGP urged them to  embrace sports instead, channelling their energy towards constructive and positive endeavours.
He reiterated that sports provide an alternative path—one that fosters discipline, teamwork, and a  sense of purpose—leading to a brighter future for both individuals and the society.
Encouraging young athletes, he urged them to compete with integrity, passion, and  sportsmanship.
He reminded them that the true value of sports lies in learning, perseverance, and friendship.
The DGP also commended the coaches and parents for their unwavering support in  guiding young talents towards excellence.
The DGP reaffirmed the Manipur Police’s dedication to youth development and preventing anti-social behaviour through sports engagement.
He assured continued support for initiatives that contribute to the holistic growth of children and society.
With great enthusiasm, he declared the 4th Master Boys and Girls Boxing Championship and the 1st State Level Blue Cubs Baby League officially open, marking the beginning of an inspiring sporting journey for the participants.
