Plagiarism software launched

IMPHAL, Mar 11: As a part of its initiative to check the quality of research works, Manipur University has launched a plagiarism detection software today.
Manipur University Vice Chancellor Prof N Lokendra launched Turnitin, a plagiarism detection software, at a function held in the university’s library.
VC Prof N Lokendra, School of Social Science Dean Prof Memcha Loitongbam, Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) Director Prof A Rajmani Singha, Registrar Prof W Chandbabu and Librarian in-charge Prof Ch Ibohal attended the function as chief guest, special guests and president respectively.
Prof Ch Ibohal said that Turnitin software is a very useful plagiarism detection software used widely across the world.
He said that the software has been launched at Manipur University to detect copying from other sources or published works and encourage production of quality research articles, theses, dissertations etc.
With the advancement of technology, some people have been using texts generated through artificial intelli- gence, Prof Ibohal said.
He said that Turnitin software would help a lot in creating a conducive academic atmosphere for quality research works in Manipur University.
