IMPHAL, Mar 10: Manipur Pradesh Mahila Congress has asked for implementation of the Nari Shakti Vandhan Adhiniyam which guarantees 33 per cent reservation for women in the Parliament and State Assemblies.
Speaking to media persons at Congress Bhavan, BT Road here today, Manipur Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee president Mutum Sarma Devi said that they supported the protest staged by All India Mahila Congress Committee at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi today.
The protest was staged demanding immediate implementation of Nari Shakti Vandhan Adhiniyam which guarantees 33 per cent reservation for women in Parliament and State Assemblies.
Mutum Sarma said that the Mahila Congress has been advocating 33 per cent reservation for women in the Parliament and State Assemblies since 1996.
A Bill on Nari Shakti Vandhan Adhiniyam which guarantees 33 per cent reservation for women in the Parliament and State Assemblies was passed by the Parliament on September 19, 2023. But the Bill has not been implemented yet, she decried. She then urged the Government to bring the Nari Shakti Vandhan Adhiniyam Bill into effect immediately across the country.
