Two militants arrested

IMPHAL, Mar 11: In two separate operations, security forces arrested two cadres of banned underground outfits yesterday.
The arrested have been identified as cadres of PREPAK (Pro) and KCP (Taibanganba).
The PREPAK (Pro) cadre, Laishram Tomba alias Suresh Meitei (36) of Chairel Leingangtabi, was arrested by the CDO Unit Kakching from Wangoo Chairel Leingangtabi area yesterday morning.
He is allegedly involved in extortion activities and the CDO personnel seized Rs 1000 and a mobile phone from his possession, said police.
Kumbi police station has registered a case for further investigation.
The cadre of KCP (Taibanganba), Maibam Virendrakumar Singh alias Saphaba (32) of Wabagai Yangbi Maning, was arrested by a combined team of Kakching CDO Unit and 33 AR from Wabagai Makha Leikai Heibongmakhong area.
He joined the banned outfit in April 2024 through one Corporal Sunil Sharma, and is allegedly involved in extortion activities, said the police.
The security forces seized one mobile phone from his possession.
Hiyanglam police station has registered a case for further investigation.
