IMPHAL, Mar 11 : The All Manipur Bulk LPG Transporters Association has ceased operation along Imphal-Jiribam road since yesterday over non fulfilment of their demands while floating tender for bulk LPG transportation by road from Sekmai bottling plant.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary signed by its secretary Kh Jodha, the Association said that the tender floated by Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) for LPG transportation overrides the assurances given to them.
It also said that the tender sidelines the advice given by the Chief Secretary to the IOCL for a reasonable transportation rate.
Saying that the rate offered for the Imphal-Jiribam route is not reasonable enough for transporters to recoup their losses, the Association added that the rate for Imphal-Dimapur has also not been revised.
Further stating that the tender doesn't address the hardship being faced by the transporters, the Association said that they have ceased operation from March 10.
