Senapati, March 11: An awareness training program on Pig rearing cum Insurance was held on Monday at Maram Centre, Senapati district.
The event was organized by Northeast India (PULEM) project under ANMA Integrated Development Association(AIDA).
The program aimed to educate the beneficiaries and local farmers and pig rearers on scientific pig farming practices, disease management, and the benefits of livestock insurance.
At the event, Dr HB Warngam Anal, Maram Veterinary Officer and Dr L Chang, Senapati Veterinary Officer as resource persons, shared valuable insights of pig health management, vaccination, and modern rearing techniques.
The session also highlighted the importance of livestock insurance in safeguarding farmers against financial losses due to diseases, accidents, or natural calamities.
During the interaction session, participants raised questions regarding feed selection, insurance claim procedures and enquired about availability  of free medication from the Government.
The experts addressed their concerns and encouraged the adoption of improved pig farming methods for better productivity and sustainability.
The program was attended by around 50 beneficiaries including local farmers.
It is expected that such initiatives will help strengthen the pig farming sector in the region and enhance the financial security of PULEM project beneficiaries and local farmers.
