IMPHAL, Mar 11 : The Manipur Naga People’s Front (MNPF) celebrated its 12th raising day at its general headquarters, all battalions and stations today.
The raising day celebration held at the general headquarters was attended by MNPF chairman John Francis Kashung, home secretary SP Kanmi, defence secretary Ruichumhao and publicity secretary Thomas Numai as chief guest, functional president and guests of honour respectively.
Saluting the party’s flag and offering tributes to all the martyrs who had laid down their lives in the course of the liberation movement were the main features of the raising day celebration, according to a press release issued by the outfit’s publicity secretary Thomas Numai.
Speaking at the function, MNPF chairman John Francis Kashung thanked God for showering His blessing upon the outfit.
The chairman also extended warm greetings to all revolutionary organisations of Manipur and WESEA.
Apart from giving an account of how MNPF was formed, John Francis also talked about how MNPF fighters attacked and defeated Indian military forces on several occasions.
Saying that India has no desire to maintain peace in WESEA region, he accused the Government of India of fomenting trouble and unrest in the region.
Manipur is a Nation created by the amalgamation of several countries and it is the duty of every community to unite and struggle collectively to defend Manipur from all kinds of challenges, John Francis Kashung said.
The demand being made by a particular community for homeland/separate administration is not a wise or legitimate decision, he remarked.
The other communities will not remain silent to any such demand, he said.
Saying that the crisis besieging Manipur since May 2023 is an internal matter, the MNPF chairman appealed to all concerned to drop the demand of separate administration.
All other communities must work to bridge the misunderstanding that exists between the two communities, he said.
“As stated by Tripura royal scion Pradiyot Debbarma that no one from outside would come to protect us, all the communities must sit together and work out a solution to the existing crisis”, John Francis Kashung said.
Pradiyot Debbarma stated that waiting for Delhi or other external elements to work out a solution would only escalate the crisis. The crisis does not affect only the two communities but it has affected all other communities of Manipur, he pointed out.
He then called upon all the communities of Manipur to come together and explore a solution to the protracted crisis.
Manipur will see peace and progress only when it achieves independence, he asserted.
