Three who impersonated Shah's son held, brought to Imphal MLAs called up with offer of CM's post

IMPHAL, Mar 11: Three teens, who impersonated Jay Shah, Union Home Minister Amit Shah's son, and demanded huge amounts of money from MLAs have been arrested and brought to Imphal.
Posing as Jay Shah over the phone, the three teens had allegedly demanded about Rs 4 crore from several MLAs promising them the Chief Minister's post.
The scamsters called Manipur leaders including Assembly Speaker Thokchom Satyabrata Singh, and demanded Rs 4 crore for the Chief Minister's post, sources said.
A case of cheating and impersonation was filed under Sections 318 (4) and 319 (2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The calls were made in the first two weeks of February.
During the same period, a 19-year-old man who allegedly impersonated Jay Shah and sought Rs 5 lakh from Uttarakhand BJP MLA Adesh Chauhan was arrested.
The three arrested have been identified as Uvaish Ahmed (19) of Nidhauri Kala, Etah Uttar Pradesh; Gaurav Nath (19) of Sapera Basti Gharoli PS, Ghazipur, East Delhi; and Priyanshu Pant (19) of Mayur Vihar Phase III, East Delhi.
They were brought to Imphal today in an Indigo flight from Delhi by a team of Imphal police station.
Priyanshu Pant was arrested from Delhi and Uvesh Ahmed was arrested from Uttarakhand on February 19 in connection with a similar case.
Gaurav Nath was arrested from New Delhi on February 24.
The State police took custody of the three in connection with the cases registered here in Imphal.
The three will be produced before the Court of CJM Imphal West, seeking police custody remand, said sources.
