37th N Hazari and Dr N Tombi State Polo Chingkheihunba PC ease into quarterfinals with 12-1 demolition of Samadon PC; Kangleipak PS, MPSC-B into pre-quarters

IMPHAL, Mar 12 : Chingkheihunba PC, Kongpal galloped into quarterfinals of the 37th N Hazari and Dr N Tombi State Polo Tournament with 12-1 demolition of Samadon PC, Mongsangei as Kangleipak PS, MPSC-B moved into pre-quarterfinals.
In the first round of 16-match of the tournament staged this afternoon, Takhellambam Leishemba scored five goals alone in the last two chukkers to inspire Chingkheihunba PC a huge 12-1 win over Samadon PC.
M Bhupendrajit scored three goals on the trot in the opening chukker before A Basanta scored one to give Chingkheihunba PC a 4-0 first chukker lead.
The second period saw neither team finding the target before T Leishemba scored four goals in succession to further extend the lead for the winning side within 2 minutes of the third chukker. M Jacky pulled back a goal for Samadon PC in the fourth minute but Th Kaoba regain the 8-goal advantage for the Kongpal team.
A Basanta, Th Kaoba and T Leishemba all scored a goal apiece in the closing chukker to finish off the game 12-1 as Samadon PC failed to further reduce the margin.
Earlier in the day, Kangleipak Polo Star (PS), Laipham Khunou edged out Meiraba Polo Club, Khuyathong by 5-3 goals thanks to a treble from Ksh Naoba in the first chukker to enter last-16 stage.
A Bijoy and Prakash Bhandari also scored a goal apiece in the fourth chukker to seal the victory as L Lukhoi, L Mocha and P Bicky scored a goal each for Meiraba PC.
In the second ground, MPSC-B outlasted Arbin Polo Club, Iroishemba by 13-7 goals thanks to S Bimol's seven goal feat.
S Abungcha also scored thrice for the team as H Abung netted twice and T Pradeep scored one for the same team.
A Abung in the meantime scored four goals for Arbin PC as K Bonison scored twice and AK Ibomcha netted one.
With the win, MPSC-B set up a last-16 round date with Kangleipak PS.
