Senapati, Mar 20 : A team of Senapati District Medical Department led by Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Percy Sumpi conducted the first ever one day combined medical camp at Rajaimei village under Willong sub-division today.
The camp screened 87 villagers, out of which 27 were diagnosed with Hypertension and Diabetes Mellitus.
The 15 strong medical team including CMO, DMO, DPM, DTBO and others spoke on awareness of NCD, TB, Dengue, Malaria, newborn care and other diseases. The doctors appealed to those diagnosed with Hypertension and Diabetes to go for regular follow up care at the nearest PHCs or District Hospital.
Apart from free treatments, the team also provided free medicines and consultations to the villagers.
According to Village Chairman Ramba Moses, the medical camp brought joy to the villagers who have no access to any medical facilities as no doctor or nurse has been posted in the village till date despite repeated petitions in the past. Doctor’s visits from Bendramei PHC is the only means to treat the villagers, he added. Expressing gratitude to the medical team, village secretary H Benjamin Kangba appealed to the CMO to conduct such camps in the future for the benefit of the villagers and the neighboring villages. Additionally, the villagers also requested the CMO to look into their petition to post a regular doctor or nurse with medical items at the newly built PHSC.
