Water tanker recovered

IMPHAL, Mar 3: A water tanker which was hijacked by Kuki militants for supplying water to State forces in Moreh in February 2024 has been recovered today. The tanker, a Tata DI truck, was recovered from a Kuki village in Moreh, and it had multiple bullet holes, said sources. Notably, the tanker was hijacked by Kuki militants for providing water to State forces stationed in Moreh against their advice on Feb 1, 2024. Kuki groups had then issued a circulation forcing shops not to sell even water to personnel of Manipur Police in Moreh. While the tanker was hijacked, its driver was reportedly assaulted and threatened by the militants.
