RCA, Al-Ameen victorious as 2nd MNCA H Biramangol Memorial Trophy 2024-25 begins

IMPHAL, Mar 8 : RCA, Lilong and Al-Ameen, Lilong emerged triumphants as the 2nd edition of MNCA U-23 Men's H Biramangol Singh Memorial Trophy 2024-25 got underway at two venues today.
In the Group A opener staged at Khangabok Cherapur Public Ground, RCA rode on Zamir Khan (4/29 in 8 overs) and Aziz Mirza (3/27 in 6.2 overs) to dismantle toss winners CRAU, Khamnam Bazar for 152 runs in 30.2 overs before Syed Hussain (53 off 39) and M Alfash (36 off 39) took the team to the target in 24.3 overs with 8 wickets left to spare.
For CRAU, Thongam Joychandra 36 off 22 and K Sanatomba 33 off 61 were the leading run getters before Bm Sabakhan and H Joyhenba picked a wicket apiece in a lost cause.
Zamir Khan who led the bowling attack for RCA was declared player of the match.
Elsewhere at Khudeiband Lampak, Al-Ameen opened their group stage (B) campaign with a 53-run victory over KASC, Khomidok.
Put in to bat first, Al-Ameen scored 220 runs before bowled out in 37.5 overs but successfully defended their total by restricting KASC to 167/5 in the allotted 40 overs.
Md Sagir Ahmed 43 off 53 balls, Md Karim 30 off 33 and Shohel Akter 30 off 29 led the batting charge for Al-Ameen in the innings that saw Bm Afsar (2/34) and Kh Sohail Khan (2/20) sharing four wickets for KASC and 6 others claiming a wicket apiece.
In reply, Md Rahis Khan anchored with an unbeaten 51 off 52 balls (4 fours) with Md Abdulgani (27 not out off 81 balls) but their efforts fell short as Al-Ameen bowlers produced frugal bowling performances.
Md Karim picked two wickets for 29 runs in his spell of 7 overs for Al-Ameen that included 2 maidens as Shohel Akter and Md Sagir Ahmed claimed a wicket apiece.
Md Karim was eventually named man of the match.
