Veteran Cricket : KCC, YWC book semifinal spots

IMPHAL, Apr 10: KCC Kongba and YWC Langthabal knocked out YPHU Lalambung Makhong and ESU Wangkhei respectively in the quarterfinals today to enter the semifinals of the 2nd Khomdram (O) Hijam Mema Devi Memorial T-20 Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament 2025.
At Langthabal Public Ground, KCC Kongba beat YPHU by 61 runs, and YWC beat ESU by 44 runs.
In the first quarterfinal match, KCC opted to bat first and scored 182 runs for 4 wickets in 20 overs.
In reply, YPHU managed to score only 121 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs.
S Robertson (54 runs off 37 balls) and Kongbrailatpam Sanjit (44 runs off 28 balls) displayed splendid batting skills for KCC.
YPHU's Dularva Singh took 2 wickets and his team-mates, Jinta Irengbam and Thenthen took one wicket each.
In YPHU's failed chase, only Thenthen (45 runs off 38 balls) and Ponil (29 runs off 22 balls) could score 2-digit runs.
KCC's Bonny took 3 wickets. Sanjit dismissed 2 wickets. S Sanjoy, Devan and Robertson dismissed one wicket each.
In the second quarterfinal match, YWC faced the ball first and amassed 178 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs.
ESU could score only 134 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs.
In YWC's knock of 178 runs, Laishram Sashi knocked an impressive 50 runs off 25 balls.
ESU's S Shantikumar took 2 wickets, and his team-mate Y Robin dismissed one wicket.
An undefeated, N Banikanta displayed fine batting, knocking 45 runs off 30 balls, but his effort proved not enough to turn the tide against YWC.
Konjengbam Swami (30 runs off 25 balls) and Yumnam Robin (24 runs off 21 balls) too did well, but ESU succumbed scoring only 134 runs in 20 overs.
YWC's Tejkumar took 2 wickets. L Dinachandra, P Prakashmani and S Kumarjit dismissed one wicket each.
